PINK FLOYD
A Tree Full of Secrets
A temporary ultimate Pink Floyd rarities compilation

New Rarities

Since the release of this huge set, some new rarities have been found and are floating in the trading circles.

We will publish here a list of these new tracks that we were not able to include in the original set but may possibly be included in a future re-release.

In The Beechwoods (backing track) - 05-06Sep67

This is taken from a Nick Mason interview, probably done by a college student in 1969. Durinq this interview Nick played 3 songs for the interviewer (In The Beechwoods, the original mix of Vegetable Man, and an instrumental rehearsal of Vegetable Man). This was taped by a portable mic stand and reel, not from an off the air broadcast. "In The Beechwoods" was recorded during the same sessions as "Vegetable Man".

available on the Syd Barrett rarities compilation "Have You Got It Yet ?" #4.

Vegetable Man (rehearsals)

Another instrumental, recorded with the previous track.

available on the Syd Barrett rarities compilation "Have You Got It Yet ?" #4.

Vegetable Man (1967 mix)

This is the original mix (different from the mono & stereo mixes on the actual tree which are mixes from Peter Jenner in 1974 and Malcolm Jones in 1987). Also recorded during Nick Mason's interview in 1969. This sounds like the 'alternate mono version" of the tree with the ending laughts but without echo.

available on the Syd Barrett rarities compilation "Have You Got It Yet ?" #4.

Untitled Jam (Mike Leonard's house, 17Dec67)

This is an improvisation that Pink Floyd played whilst Mike Leonard was working on lighting effects. This was filmed for BBCs "Tomorrow's World" program, broadcast in January 1968 (with Mike Leonard interviewed above the music). It was rebroadcast during the 1994 Pink Floyd documentary "Omnibus". Note that this untitled impro is often called "Green Onions" in Floyd trading circles.

available on the Syd Barrett rarities compilation "Have You Got It Yet ?" #1, sourced it seems from the 1994 Omnibus Pink Floyd documentary. This part may have been rebroadcast during the Syd Barrett BBC documentary too, but in stereo.

Julia Dream. (echo mix)

"Masters of Rock" LP version of "Julia Dream" is different from the original mono mix and the stéréo mix available on Relics.

available on the Syd Barrett rarities compilation "Have You Got It Yet ?" #2.

Echoes (edit)

The "unfaithful" version of "Echoes, The Best of Pink Floyd" which looses the "Jupiter and Beyond" synchronisation on 2001 : A Space Odyssey ;-)

Us And Them (alternate end version)

The version from "Echoes, The Best of Pink Floyd" was retouched to make a comfortable link with "Learning To Fly"

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 1-7)

New version is available on "Echoes, The Best of Pink Floyd" where for the first time parts 5 (with the sax solo) and part 6 (with the wind) and linked

Wish You Were Here (25th Anniversary Medley)

Downloadable version with a macromedia flash animation near the end of year 2000, for the 25th anniversary of the album.

The Wall demos

Surfaced early 2000. Worldwidely available. To stick with our rules this should be kept separately.

When The Tigers Broke Free (film edit)

New version available on "Echoes, The Best of Pink Floyd", this the film version (different from the single version) with parts 1 & 2 linked together (forgiving an instrumental part of the actual film version) this is why we call it "film edit" and not "film version".

The Final Cut demos

Surfaced ending 2001. Worldwidely available. To stick with our rules this should be kept separately.

Marrooned (short version)

New version is available on "Echoes, The Best of Pink Floyd", we're unsure this is an "edit version" or a "short version"

High Hopes (new edit)

New version is available on "Echoes, The Best of Pink Floyd" shorter than the album version, but different from the "edit promo version".

Interstellar Overdrive (short version 1)
Interstellar Overdrive (short version 2)
Interstellar Overdrive (short version 3)
Interstellar Overdrive (short version 4)

From the "Tonite Let's All Make Love In London" documentary. Available on the original official soundtrack (released july 19th, 1969). When this soudntrack was re-released on CD in 1990 ("Tonite Let's All Make Love In London ... Plus") there was only three short versions. The missing short version maybe the one available on the "Granny Takes A Trip" roio. These short versions are only the very start of Interstellar Overdrive but with an earlier or later fade out ...

Zabriskie Point new outtakes

These outtakes have recently surfaced on the "A Journey Through Time & Space" Roio (On the first Cd of the Double cd set, called "Outer Zabriskie". This CD, due to time reasons, is 1/2# too speed and should be speed corrected (and thus would no longer fit one 80 minutes CD ... )

A complete release of all the Zabriskie PoinT rareties should eb done separately with the film versions, the original OneOne versions and the official soundtrack songs in order to make a coherent release.

Roger Waters narrating part in "The Body''

It is said that Roger Waters is the narrator for parts of "The Body" film and should have took place in the original release.

Roger Waters: Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Originally recorded for "The Dybbuk of the Holy Apple Field" film (released in 1998). The complete studio version is available on Roger Waters' "Flickering Flame" "Best Of".

Roger Waters: Lost Boys Calling (demo)

Available on Roger Waters' "Flickering Flame" "Best Of".

Roger Waters: Lost Boys Callinq (short version)

This short version is sourced from a promo CD single (with a late fade in and an earlier fade out). It is only the original italian soundtrack version shortened, not the US version.

Roger Waters: Flickering Flame (demo)

Available on Roger Waters' "Flickering Flame" "Best Of".
